Smith Estates Canal Lining Project

Grand Valley Irrigation Company has completed the lining of the previously earthen canal located along the rear boundary of the Smith Estates subdivision located near J Road and 23 Road.

The project included installation of geotextile fabric, PVC liner, and drain lines that daylight into Grand Valley Drainage Ditch, as well as the installation of H-walls on headgates 255 and 256. Shotcrete was applied to finalize the lined section, and the Smith Estates access road was finished with gravel.

The lining extends approximately 1,650 feet, adjacent to the Smith Estates subdivision. This section historically presented high-bank conditions on the west side of the canal. The lining was completed to reduce the risk of bank failure, mitigate seepage, and improve overall canal integrity in the section.
